Oak Lawn, Illinois — The program may have been indoors, but the temperature fluctuated from Fire to Ice during the 2014 themed Salute Gala, Advocate Christ Medical Center’s annual fundraiser.
The success of the event, which again drew hundreds of participants, was due in large part to the support and overall participation of the physicians at Christ Medical Center and Advocate Children’s Hospital – Oak Lawn. Emceed by Dawn Hasbrouck, FOX Chicago news anchor, the gala was held May 3 at the Chicago Marriott Hotel and featured keynote remarks by well known TV personality and best-selling author, Dr. Ian Smith.
Physicians from the Heart and Vascular Institute at Christ Medical Center were honored as “Outstanding Physician Leaders,” and Andrew P. Tecson, a Chicago attorney, was presented with the “Outstanding Community Leader” award.
More than 850 gala tickets were sold, generating gross revenue of nearly $1 million. Funds raised by the event go toward the ongoing expansion and modernization of the Christ Medical Center campus. Since 2009, Salute has generated the sum total of $6.5 million in gross revenue in support of the medical campus’ programs.
The expansion and transformation taking place at Christ Medical Center include the 325,000-square-foot Outpatient Pavilion, which opened in March, and, the new East Tower, which is scheduled for completion and opening by late 2015 or early 2016. When opened, the East Tower will provide additional ICU bed capacity and more labor and delivery rooms to serve the surrounding communities. Also expected to begin in 2015 is phase I of the modernization and expansion of the medical center’s emergency department.
