Barrington, IL — Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital has been named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics. The study examined the performance of more than 1,000 hospitals by analyzing outcomes for patients with heart failure and heart attacks and for those who received coronary bypass surgery and other coronary interventions such as angioplasties.

“This honor is a tribute to our dedicated teams of physicians, nurses and associates who commit themselves to providing the best outcomes in cardiovascular care every day,” said Karen Lambert, president, Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.

The study, now in its 15th year, singled out 50 hospitals that achieved superior clinical outcomes.

“We are honored to receive this recognition and I’m proud to be a part of this collaborative team who works together seamlessly for optimal patient outcomes in cardiovascular care,” said Sunil Kadakia, MD, Chief of Cardiology at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.

The 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals:

  • Have significantly better 30-day survival rates
  • Maintain lower 30-day readmission rates for heart attack and heart failure patients
  • Release bypass patients nearly a day sooner than their peers
  • Spend approximately $2,000 less per bypass surgery case
