Cancer screening program

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. People with lung cancer often don’t experience symptoms until the cancer has reached an advanced stage, when it is most difficult to treat. For smokers and for those at highest risk, Advocate hospitals provide screenings to detect lung cancer early when treatment is most effective. Medicare and most insurance plans cover the screening for those eligible.

Pulmonary heart disease program

Advocate’s cardiac and pulmonary specialists are experts in diagnosing and treating pulmonary heart disease, and a related condition, pulmonary hypertension. Also, pulmonary rehabilitation following heart or lung surgery is crucial to a successful recovery; our physicians are ready to help.

Lung transplants

If you have exhausted all treatment options for serious pulmonary conditions, lung transplantation could prolong and dramatically improve the quality of your life. Often, after lung transplantation, you can return to work or school and resume activities like travel and sports.

Ongoing support

Advocate's pulmonlogists work closely with any health care support services you may need, to coordinate ongoing care and speed recovery. We can also connect you with local programs, including smoking cessation groups and fitness classes, to help you maintain healthy lungs.
