Chicago, Ill. – Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center is recognized with an “A” Hospital Safety Score for the seventh term in a row by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit run by employers and other larger purchasers of health benefits.
“We are so proud to be recognized with an ‘A’ safety ranking once again,” says Ken Laube, the vice president of Clinical Excellence at Advocate Illinois Masonic. “This recognition is a confirmation of all of our efforts and commitment to the safety of our patients. Keeping our patients, physicians and associates safe from preventable harm is our top priority. Our goal is to eliminate all preventable harm through rigorous, continuous improvement.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Score rates how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections. The ratings are based on 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single A, B, C, D, or F score representing a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm. The Hospital Safety Score is fully transparent, and its website offers a full analysis of the data and methodology used in determining grades. More than 2,500 U.S. general hospitals were assigned scores, with 782 earning an “A” grade.
The nation’s leading experts on patient safety compile these ratings which are then calculated and administered by The Leapfrog Group’s Blue Ribbon Expert Panel.
