Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center Again Earns an ‘A’ for Patient Safety from The Leapfrog Group

Chicago, Ill
. – Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center has been recognized with an “A” Hospital Safety Score for the eighth term in a row by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit run by employers and other larger purchasers of health benefits. Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, one of only six Chicago hospitals to receive and “A” ranking this term, has achieved straight “A’s” since Leapfrog began its analysis of safety measures in 2013.

“We are so proud to be recognized with an ‘A’ safety ranking once again,” says Ken Laube, vice president of Clinical Excellence at Advocate Illinois Masonic. “This recognition is a confirmation of all of our efforts and commitment to the safety of our patients. Keeping our patients, physicians and associates safe from preventable harm is out top priority. Our goal is to eliminate all preventable harm through rigorous, continuous improvement.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Score rates how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections. The ratings are based on 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single A, B, C, D or F score representing a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm. The Hospital Safety Score is fully transparent, and its website offers a full analysis of the data and methodology used in determining grades.

Other Advocate hospitals recognized with the distinction of straight A’s since 2013 include Advocate Condell Medical Center, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital and Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Advocate Sherman Hospital also received an A grade for this term. To learn more about the Hospital Safety Score and how Advocate Illinois Masonic measures up, visit www.hospitalsafetyscore.org.
