Chicago, Ill. - Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center joins 29 other hospitals across the nation in receiving the Energy to Care award from the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE). ASHE, part of the American Hospital Association, recognized these hospitals at their 53rd annual conference and Technical Exhibition July 10 to 13 in Denver, CO.
The Energy to Care Award encourages hospitals across the country to increase their energy saving efforts. This award honors facilities that have reduced energy by 10 percent or more over the previous year.
“Developing innovative ways to reduce energy consumption in a hospital can be challenging, especially because much of our facility is more than 100 years old,” says Tom Baumstark, Facilities manager. “But it’s also rewarding to see the whole hospital taking these strides together to help the environment around us, and being recognized for our efforts is the icing on the cake.”
