Colonoscopy: catch cancer signs early
A screening colonoscopy can detect colon cancer in its early stages, when it's very treatable. You should get a colonoscopy every 10 years, beginning at age 45. Depending on your family history and other potential risk factors, you may need earlier or more regular screening.
A simpler process: We offer direct access to screening colonoscopies to qualified patients, saving you time and money.

State-of-the-art GI lab
The GI Lab at Advocate Lutheran General is a state-of-the-art department that performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for both adults and kids, including various gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, pulmonary procedures and continence testing.

Patient information
- Free parking for our patients
- Registration desk is located by the main entrance
- Guest service representative will walk you to the GI Lab
- GI nurse will admit you and start an IV for sedation
- After procedure you will be in recovery area for 20-30 minutes
- Doctor will explain the results of the procedure
- Recovery nurse will give you written discharge instructions
- Responsible person has to drive you home if you received sedation
