Our birthing center is designed specifically for you and your family. In addition to advanced technology and a leading team, expectant mothers can look forward to private rooms for their labor, delivery and recovery care as well as secure, nurturing and comfortable surroundings.

Surgical suites:

Cesarean births, as well as some high-risk vaginal births, take place in one of our advanced surgical suites. One support person may be present as long as you are awake for the delivery.

Breastfeeding support

Before delivery: We offer prenatal breastfeeding classes on a regular basis to help you prepare. Register for one online today.

During your stay: Our international board-certified lactation consultants are available to meet with you to help you get started or to answer any questions you may have. They also can address any complex issues that may arise.

After birth: Lactation outpatient visits are available to you after you leave the hospital following your delivery. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 847-723-6455.

High-risk pregnancy care

Pregnancy can be risky for some women. Lutheran General Hospital ensures that at-risk expectant mothers and their infants are given exceptional support starting from conception through delivery and beyond. Our experts specialize in a full range of issues, from general high-risk pregnancy to caring for pregnant women using narcotics and twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome.

Our expert care includes:

  • State-designated level III neonatal intensive care unit, the highest level available in Illinois
  • High-risk pregnancy experts, known as maternal-fetal medicine specialists
  • Skilled labor and delivery team providing leading-edge care

Highest-level NICU

Advocate Children's Hospital is located on the campus of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. With access to its level III neonatal intensive care unit, you'll have peace of mind knowing we have the advanced resources necessary to care for your newborn.

Infertility care

Dealing with infertility can be difficult, but you don’t have to go through it alone. Our reproductive endocrinologists can guide you with compassion and expertise and help you overcome this challenge in your journey to motherhood. Talk to your OB/GYN or midwife about next steps if you’ve been trying to get pregnant for more than a year.
