Downers Grove and Chicago, IL — Advocate Aurora Health, the 10th largest not-for-profit integrated health care system in the country, today announced a strategic collaboration with MATTER, the premier health care incubator and innovation hub. Together, the two organizations will drive entrepreneurship and transformations in care delivery that expand access, improve consumer experience and health outcomes, and reduce the cost of care.
Advocate Aurora Health and MATTER also announced today their first joint initiative, the Health Tech Venture Challenge, a nationwide competition that will engage the health innovation community to elevate novel ideas and solutions that address challenges in primary care delivery.
"Technology and innovation will drive the future of health and wellness, and this collaboration helps to accelerate the development of a health tech ecosystem that is reimagining care delivery," said Jim Skogsbergh, Advocate Aurora Health president and CEO. "This gives entrepreneurs an opportunity to partner with our health system in ways that will directly benefit the health care consumers we're so privileged to serve."
The Health Tech Venture Challenge will offer one startup a $10,000 cash prize and curated sessions with subject matter experts based on the winning team's needs. Advocate Aurora Health also committed to exploring potential opportunities with contest finalists to further develop or pilot technologies at its more than 500 sites of care in Illinois and Wisconsin.
Advocate Aurora Health and MATTER are seeking innovative solutions that create new possibilities for people and their primary care providers. Technologies of interest include, but are not limited to, telehealth, patient portals, mobile clinical decision support, wearables and IoT, artificial intelligence and big data.
"The best new ideas in health care come when entrepreneurs and industry leaders are working together," said Steven Collens, MATTER CEO. "Our relationship with Advocate Aurora Health – starting with the Health Tech Venture Challenge – will bring together innovators and executives to collaborate on improving health and health care."
