Downers Grove, IL and Milwaukee, WI — Advocate Aurora Health, one of the 12 largest not-for-profit, integrated health care systems in the nation, has once again been recognized among the Chicago Tribune’s Top Workplaces.
Awarded amid the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, this is the third Top Workplace recognition for Advocate Aurora Health since Advocate Health Care and Aurora Health Care merged in April 2018. Advocate Health Care had won the Tribune honor six times previously. This year, Advocate Aurora is the only integrated health system on the Tribune’s list of exemplary workplaces.
“This recognition is a reflection of the great work, dedication and talent of our 75,000 physicians, nurses and team members who power our purpose to help people live well,” Advocate Aurora Health President and CEO Jim Skogsbergh said. “We value our team members and are committed to being the best place for them to pursue their passion. If they feel this is a rewarding, engaging and inclusive place to work, our patients can feel confident they will receive the safest, highest quality care and great experience.”
Advocate Aurora has employed a multitude of strategies to take care of its team members, including increased pandemic pay, resources to help fight burnout and a relief fund for those who need it most. The organization announced last week it is raising its minimum hourly wage to $18, making it a regional leader and among the first health systems in the nation to do so.
Winners were decided via a scientific survey of team members completed by workplace improvement specialist Energage, according to the Tribune. The survey assessed work-life balance, confidence in company leadership, connection and others to determine an overall score for each company.
In addition to this latest recognition, Advocate Aurora Health has won three consecutive Top Workplace recognitions from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel since the 2018 merger.
