Advocate Aurora Health's COO Bill Santulli named as Modern Healthcare's 2018 Top 25 COOs

Downers Grove, Ill. – Recognized for his leadership and continued contributions to the health care industry, Advocate Aurora Health Chief Operating Officer Bill Santulli has been selected as one of Modern Healthcare’s 2018 Top 25 COOs. The national award program is designed to recognize health care’s best chief operating officers for working in health care’s complex business environment while delivering top results in quality, safety and efficiency, all with an eye on mission and margin.

Prior to being named as Advocate Aurora Health’s COO in March, Santulli served as Advocate Health Care’s COO since 2003 and has been a leader within the system for 17 years. With more than three decades of experience, Santulli has served in key leadership positions with multiple health systems including the New England Medical Center (NEMC), Boston, where he served as the Chief Operating Officer of the $440 million Academic Medical Center. Prior to NEMC, Bill served in leadership roles with Iowa Health System in Des Moines, UniHealth America in Los Angeles and Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Wash.

He currently serves as chair of the Illinois Hospital Association’s 2018 Board of Trustees. In addition, he has served on several other civic and health-related boards and is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. 

Santulli holds a master’s degree in health care administration from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, a master’s degree in sociology/health services research from the University of Florida in Gainesville and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend.

This is Santulli’s second consecutive time being named to the list, which began in 2017.
