HIPAA guidelines

Advocate Health Care follows the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council (MCHC) and American Hospital Association (AHA) guidelines in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations for releasing patient information to the media.

Therefore, a patient's name is required for the release of a one word condition report. Please be aware that providing a patient's name does not guarantee information will be released as HIPAA guidelines allow patients the opportunity to opt out of releasing information, including their presence at the hospital.
