Advocate Aurora Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Joyce Rogers to the position of Chief Government Affairs Officer, effective April 8, 2019. In her new role, Rogers will lead the strategic direction of Advocate Aurora's federal and state advocacy efforts to advance policy and legislation as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
"Joyce has more than two decades of experience leading advocacy strategy on a wide variety of regulatory and legislative matters impacting health care," said Nick Turkal, M.D., President and CEO of Advocate Aurora Health. "I'm confident her talent, experience and leadership will prove incredibly valuable to our organization as we partner with federal and local lawmakers to enhance health care in our communities."
Most recently, Rogers worked at AARP, serving as a senior vice president of government affairs, where she led federal and state advocacy for the organization, including regulatory and litigation matters involving appropriations, budget, health care, financial and tax issues. Within health care, Rogers oversaw multi-year advocacy efforts related to drug costs, Medicare and Medicaid. Prior to joining AARP, she was a partner at Williams & Jensen where she represented Fortune 500 companies, trade associations and non-profits, including the National Association of Children's Hospitals, before Congress and the Executive Branch. Rogers started her career working on Capitol Hill for Congressman Steny Hoyer, who is currently serving as the House Majority Leader.

She earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Williams College and a juris doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Rogers currently serves on the board of directors for the Franklin Center for Global Policy Exchange, Friends of the National Zoo and the Legal Counsel for the Elderly, which provides free legal and social services to low-income residents.
