Downers Grove, IL and Milwaukee, WI – Advocate Aurora Health announced today that 19 of the health system’s adult hospitals were named to the U.S. News & World Report ‘Best Hospitals’ list, in addition to Advocate Children’s Hospital, which was recognized as a top pediatric hospital.

The U.S. News & World Report list recognizes both regional and national achievement. Designated among the Best Regional Hospitals were Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, Aurora Medical Center – Grafton and Aurora Medical Center – Summit, each ranking among the top hospitals in Wisconsin. Eight hospitals ranked among the top 25 in Illinois – Advocate Christ Medical Center, Advocate Condell Medical Center, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Advocate Sherman Hospital and Advocate Trinity Hospital.
In addition, Advocate Christ, Advocate Illinois Masonic, Advocate Lutheran, Advocate Good Samaritan and Aurora St. Luke’s earned national rankings honoring the quality of their adult specialties. Christ ranked 42nd in the country in cardiology and heart surgery and 29h in obstetrics & gynecology; Lutheran ranked 40th in pulmonology and lung surgery; Good Samaritan ranked 43rd in orthopedics; Illinois Masonic ranked 44th in gastroenterology and GI surgery; and St. Luke’s ranked 50th in obstetrics & gynecology.
Advocate Children’s Hospital was recognized with the No. 34 pediatric cardiology and heart surgery program in the nation and ranked third among children’s hospitals in Illinois.
In addition to seven nationally ranked specialties, the system’s hospitals earned 165 high-performing ratings across the adult specialties and common procedures & conditions categories. Advocate South Suburban Hospital, Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Aurora Lakeland Medical Center, Aurora Medical Center - Bay Area, Aurora Medical Center - Manitowoc County, Aurora Medical Center – Oshkosh, Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center and Aurora West Allis Medical Center earned such accolades.
U.S. News & World Report evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide. Their methodology is based on measures of quality such as risk-adjusted outcome rates, volume, quality of nursing and other care-related indicators.
