Expert wound treatment

A wound that fails to heal can be frustrating, time-consuming and expensive. If within 30 days a significant improvement has not been made in your wound's healing process, make an appointment at Advocate Trinity Hospital's Wound Care Center. Our center features a multidisciplinary team of experts that includes medical and surgical physicians and a nursing staff with advanced training in wound care management. Patients receive a comprehensive evaluation to develop an individualized, aggressive treatment program for non-healing wounds.

Our certified wound care specialists assist patients by demonstrating how to position and change dressings as well as helping them obtain home dressing supplies. We use pulsed lavage and other treatments to help promote proper healing once patients return home.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

Our center features two hyperbaric oxygen chambers. If a patient’s wounds qualify for this type of treatment, the patient will breathe 100 percent oxygen under pressure while resting comfortably inside a roomy, plexiglass chamber. This non-invasive, painless treatment known as hyperbaric oxygen therapy increases the patient’s oxygen level in the bloodstream. This enhances the body’s natural healing, strengthens the immune system and often results in a return to an active lifestyle.
