EMS education at Advocate Condell Medical Center

Advocate Condell Medical Center is an Illinois Department of Public Health designated Resource Hospital. The Condell Medical Center EMS System, along with participating EMS provider departments, provide EMS education and emergency medical services to the community. All of this means that Condell helps train the paramedics who often bring patients to the hospital by ambulance.

Our mission
Condell Medical Center EMS System is committed to being the premier provider of EMS education based upon innovative, effective, and professional processes.

Our Goal
To prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels. Competence includes knowledge (facts, figures, concepts, and ideas), understanding (relationships among these, the context, what is important), skills (analysis, decision-making, communication, getting results, building teams), and intuition (timing, methods, and processes, staffing, and approaches). (Burke & Cooper, 2013)

The EMT and Paramedic courses include instruction in the didactic, clinical, and field environments while meeting or exceeding the educational and competency standards of the current USDOT/NHTSA Educational Guidelines. The Paramedic program is affiliated with the College of Lake County.

The Advocate Condell Medical Center Paramedic Education program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (www.coaemsp.org).
