Application procedure

Thank you for your interest in our Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Program.  Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center is a not-for-profit tertiary-care teaching hospital licensed for 330 beds in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago with 11,579 inpatient admissions, 219,685 outpatient visits, and 1,520 deliveries. Our medical center also possesses the following features:

  • Level I Trauma
  • Level III NICU
  • Recognized by the Human Rights Campaign for the past 14 years in a row for LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality
  • HIMSS Level 7
  • Chicago's only Resource Hospital Coordination Center for leading mass disasters

We will be accepting applications for the 2024-2025 academic year via ResidencyCAS only (https://www.residencycas.com/). No paper, fax, or email applications will be considered. Our program is a 4-year training program with 3 positions available every year.

Applicant criteria:

  1. Interest in serving a diverse patient population, including a large Hispanic population and LGBTQ+ population.
  2. Interest in living, working, and serving an urban community hospital in Metro Chicago.
  3. Interest in teaching, including medical students, Emergency Medicine residents, Family Medicine residents, and junior OB/Gyne residents.
  4. Interest in working in a dynamic team-oriented department where certified nurse midwives, nursing, staff, attending physicians: laborist, generalist, subspecialty, and resident physicians are your colleagues.
  5. The ability to work in a professional environment and provide honest, constructive criticism.
  6. Ability to receive constructive criticism and opportunities for self-improvement with an open mind.
  7. Adaptable in a dynamic fast-paced work environment.
  8. Dedicated to clinical and non-clinical excellence.

Applications will be considered when all of the following application documents have been received:

  • A complete ResidencyCAS application. This includes:
    • Personal statement
    • Deans letter
    • USLME and/or COMLEX transcripts
    • Three letters of recommendation:
    • If you are transferring from another program one of these letters must be from your current/previous Program Director.
    • One SLOE (recommended)

We participate in the standards for OBGYN application/interviews and program signaling as suggested by the CREOG & APGO guidelines.

  • Deadline for application submission is 9/25/2024.
  • Interview offers will be released on 10/29/2024, with rolling offers afterwards.
  • Interviews will be scheduled on a first come, first-serve basis.
  • Candidates will have the recommended 48 hours to reply to the interview offer.
  • We are limiting our program interview invitations to the number of interview slots available.
    • Due to an overwhelming number of historic applications, we will only be offering interviews to candidates who signal our program via the ResidencyCAS application.
  • Virtual Interview dates: Tuesdays (11/19/2024, 11/26/2024, 12/3/2024), Thursdays (11/7/2024, 11/14/2024), and Friday (11/22/24).

If you have not received an invitation for an interview by 11/27/2024, we regret to inform you that we are unable to accommodate you for a residency interview.
