Certified primary stroke center
Advocate Good Shepherd is recognized as a Primary Stroke Center. In stroke care, the speed with which a victim is treated is essential. With certification, we at Advocate Good Shepherd have proved ourselves able to provide effective, timely care to stroke victims, which can significantly improve patient outcomes.
The importance of stroke alert
When a "Stroke Alert" is issued, members of the Advocate Good Shepherd Stroke Team (or Brain Attack Team) immediately jump into action. The team is comprised of trained clinicians who will deliver expert care to the patient experiencing a stroke.
- A "Stroke Alert" called from the Emergency Department indicates that a patient is arriving via ambulance which notifies the necessary trained personnel to respond.
- A "Stroke Alert" can also be activated for patients that are currently hospitalized. All Advocate Good Shepherd employees have been trained to respond.
