Quality measures in oncology practice

Find a cancer specialist

The quality of the care that cancer patients receive is one of the most important factors in determining the success of treatment and future outcome. How can you tell if the quality of the care at your hospital is at its highest? How can you effectively measure and compare care in a meaningful way?

Four major cancer organizations – National Quality Forum, Commission on Cancer, American Society for Clinical Oncology and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network – worked together to select key quality measures for breast and colorectal cancer, which they believe provide a good indication of the level of quality a hospital provides. The National Cancer Database (NCDB) includes information on about 70 percent of the cancer patients in the US, and allows participating hospitals to compare their performance with other facilities in their state and the nation.

Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital is extremely proud to publish our quality results as they speak clearly to the success of the cancer care we provide.
