Lymphoma screening & diagnosis

Find a cancer specialist

There are currently no routine tests for lymphoma, so if you find that you are at risk, or showing one of multiple symptoms, it is important to seek help from a medical professional.  At Advocate Health Care, we have primary care physicians and specialists who can perform preliminary testing to help make a diagnosis.

Diagnosing types of Lymphoma

Accurate diagnosis of hematological malignancies is complicated. Generally described as cancers of the blood cells and lymphatic system, these malignancies come in many types and subtypes: acute versus chronic, lymphocytic versus myelogenous, localized versus metastasized and other distinguishing characteristics.

Imaging technology: Details revealed through complex analysis in our pathology lab, plus radiology scans from computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET) or other imaging technologies are vital for customizing the most appropriate treatment plan for every patient.

Fast results: Despite the complexity of diagnostics, our experienced pathologists can quickly determine the exact type of lymphoma. We're even able to identify pre-cancerous conditions such as myelodysplastic syndrome, so we can treat it early and lower your risk of developing lymphoma.
