Robotic cancer surgery
Find a cancer specialistAdvocate Health Care is committed to providing our cancer patients with the latest, safest, and least invasive surgical options. That includes the da Vinci Xi® surgical system – the most minimally invasive technology available today.
The da Vinci Xi® has a 3D high-definition (3D-HD) vision system, special instruments, and computer software that allow your surgeon to operate with unmatched vision, precision, dexterity, and control. The 3D-HD image is highly magnified, so your surgeon has a close-up view of the operating area, virtually extending their eyes and hands inside the body. The da Vinci instruments have mechanical wrists that bend and rotate to mimic the movements of the human wrist, allowing your surgeon to make small, precise movements and providing access to areas of the body not reachable with conventional techniques.
Our board-certified surgeons use this breakthrough technology to treat a number of cancers, including:
- Bladder cancer (cystectomy)
- Colorectal cancer (colectomy)
- Cervical, uterine, and other gynecologic cancers (hysterectomy)
- Kidney cancer (partial nephrectomy)
- Lung cancer (lobectomy)
Benefits of robotic surgery
Because da Vinci offers both smaller incisions and better precision than traditional "open" surgery, patients often experience a variety of benefits, including:
- Less pain and scarring
- Less risk of infection
- Fewer complications
- A shorter hospital stay
- Faster recovery
- Improved results over traditional surgery
