Providing the best transplant care means offering you innovative therapies and personalized treatment plans. Our extensive experience with robotic surgery, including our active participation in the trials that led to its approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), makes Advocate Health Care the premier choice for minimally invasive kidney transplantation surgeries. And, our paired kidney donor exchange program lets transplantation proceed where opposing blood types or other incompatibilities would otherwise prevent it.

Why choose Advocate
Pioneers of micro-invasive kidney transplants
Advocate surgeons are nationally recognized for being the first to use a revolutionary procedure, called a micro-invasive living donor nephrectomy, that the American College of Surgeons has since adopted as a teaching tool. With it, surgeons can remove donor kidneys through an incision that's only 2.5 inches long. As a result, donor patients can go home the day after surgery, return to daily life quickly and experience less pain and scarring.
Multidisciplinary kidney transplant team
Our team of experts includes highly trained surgeons, transplant nephrologists, transplant nurse coordinators, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers, psychologists and many other specialties. Patients have 24/7 access to the transplant team, which provides one-to-one patient education. There is consistent communication by the transplant team with the patient, family, referring physicians, general nephrologists, dialysis centers and other providers. The team's focus is providing compassionate, personalized care and careful follow-up. Members of our multilingual staff are fluent in a number of languages, including Spanish, Hindi, Polish and French.
