Treatment of urologic cancers
Urologic cancer is any cancer that starts in reproductive or urinary tract organs. The most common urologic cancer among men of all racial and ethnic groups is prostate cancer, followed by bladder cancer and kidney cancer. One of the top risk factors for urologic cancer is tobacco use.We treat prostate cancer with a full range of treatments that depend on your age, your preferences, and the stage and size of your cancer. Treatments at our prostate clinics may include radiation therapy, hormones or surgery.
Bladder cancer may be treated at our urinary clinics with surgery, medications, radiation therapy, chemotherapy or immunotherapy.
Treatment for kidney cancer usually involves surgery to remove either part or all of the kidney. Other kinds of treatments can be used to remove cancerous kidney cells including freezing them and using high-frequency electrical energy to burn them.
